Support needed

Would you like to get involved with #skyranMOON? All support will be welcome!

To ensure that everyone can enjoy #skyranMOON for free, local businesses, academic institutions and individuals have contributed to the costs of bringing ‘Museum of the Moon’ to Stromness, and to associated costs such as printing, transport, accommodation, installation etc – but more financial and practical support is needed to complete the project.

Donate time and energy

You could invigilate at #skyranMOON in Stromness Academy during public opening times, or help at family days on Saturdays – VAO Orkney is coordinating volunteers – visit the VAO website for more information. There’s a lot to do to make the project successful, so if you’d like to help make things happen or offer in-kind support please get in touch with enquiries or offers.

Contribute to costs

Every penny of the cost of the project is being donated by local people and local businesses – no official funding has been given to the project. It’s testament to the appeal of Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon that so many businesses have contributed to the event for the benefit of the community.

But there’s still a way to go with fundraising, so if you can, please make a donation to the project costs – email with details or buy raffle tickets when you come to see the MOON.

It costs £100 for a young person to receive Worldhost training and become an event guide (and get a guide T-shirt) and all Worldhost sponsors will be credited at the event and online.

Several local businesses have donated prizes for our final prize draw – they will all be credited and celebrated! Visitors to the MOON will be able to enter a daily raffle to win a mini MOON lamp. Everyone buying entry to the daily raffle will be entered into the final prize draw.

All supporters will be acknowledged on the website and at the event. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

If you’d like to help, please contact with any offers or ideas.
